Disneyworld

Disney world is a land of role-play, where people interact with make believe- completely opposite to their everyday life Disney land does not just remind people of the characters from Walt’s films but is a mirror held up to their own lives which is so apposed to the land of mystery. The colourful land of happiness could not be further away from our grey metropolitan cities- Disney where we believe we will be free and happy acts as a conveyer belt of organised adult size fun. We move through the park on our pre planed entertainment staying in plastic temples which we believe will bring us closer to our childhood friends. These friends who are normally played by young women whose life exist in Disney land. The Sleeping Beauty’s, Cinderella’s and Snow Whites impersonators do not use Disney simply as a 3 day stop of tour but lives in the land of Disney everyday, they are the magic and they exist within the walls of a pre set script of ecstatic happiness.

The process of turning into a Disney princess is interesting they have to watch the films over and over and be given a script where they can only say certain words, they have to smile all day and can only let their face rest on their break [1]. They have certain makeup rules that they get taught so they can do it themselves and there is constant Disney music playing [1]. Disney is the perfect example of the training of impersonation through conditioning a surrounding; all the people around you are part of Disney whether they are a fellow character or a mesmerized visitor. Your life becomes part of the architecture of Disney, your new persona is present with you wherever you go, whether you are on a shift or not you are a fabrication of Walt.
